Water Access & Well-Being: Caring for the Earth

Critical Concerns: Earth, Racism

Explore how access to clean water and sustainable agriculture is transforming lives in rural Haitian villages.

Through the lens of real stories from families and local farmers, students can explore the profound impact MFOH’s programs have had, through rainwater collection and soil conservation to grow food, in Gros Morne, Haiti. This program highlights the connection between environmental justice, sustainable agriculture, and the disproportionate burden placed on Black and Brown communities, inviting students to reflect on stewardship of Earth’s resources, advocacy, and the role of justice in environmental and racial inequality. This course invites students to think about what it means to care for the Earth—and how protecting the planet is deeply connected to standing up for justice.
